Role Overview:
The Public Relations & Fundraising Manager is responsible for leading the organization’s external communications and revenue development efforts. This role manages media relations, brand reputation, and public messaging, while also planning and executing fundraising strategies to support organizational priorities, including a capital campaign for a new facility opening in February 2027. This is a highly collaborative role that works closely with executive leadership and community partners to elevate the organization’s profile and secure financial support.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and implement public relations and communications strategies that increase awareness and visibility.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and interview requests.
- Draft press releases, media statements, key messages, and briefing notes.
- Build and maintain relationships with media and community contacts.
- Ensure consistency in organizational messaging across all channels.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan aligned with organizational goals.
- Lead planning and execution of a capital campaign for the new facility.
- Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with donors
- Prepare fundraising materials, proposals, presentations, and donor communications.
- Track fundraising progress, maintain donor records, and report on outcomes.
- Support campaign planning, launch activities, events, and donor engagement.
- Collaborate on digital communications to support fundraising and organizational visibility.
Education and Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in public relations, communications, fundraising, or a related field.
- Post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or a related field is an asset.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising, campaign planning, or major gift development.
- Strong writing, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience managing media relations and handling sensitive or high-profile communications.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and build trusted relationships.
