Position Overview
Dr. Khan at the Virtual Health Hub is seeking a dedicated, highly organized, and skilled Researcher to join a dynamic and evolving research environment. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, able to manage competing deadlines, and experienced in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. The appointment will commence at 0.50 FTE and include a probationary period of three to six months, which may be extended if required. The position may be eligible for extension beyond one year, subject to funding and performance. During this time, the researcher’s performance, ability to meet assigned tasks, and overall fit within the research program will be assessed. Duties and responsibilities may expand and be revised following the initial three-month period, depending on project needs and demonstrated performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative research, including study design and implementation.
- Perform data collection and data analysis using quantitative and qualitative research software and skills.
- Conduct current literature reviews to support study development, grant applications, and manuscripts.
- Assist with manuscript preparation for peer-reviewed publications.
- Prepare research reports, summaries, and knowledge translation materials.
- Draft and support submissions to Research Ethics Boards (REB).
- Assist with grant writing and funding applications.
- Work independently while maintaining regular communication with the supervisor.
- Manage multiple research tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Take on additional responsibilities as projects evolve, subject to review and revision after three months.
Research Focus Areas: Dr. Khan is a physician-scientist with a specialty in population and public health. Her work spans a wide range of public health, virtual care, and digital health areas. She is involved in a diverse portfolio of current, ongoing, and emerging research initiatives, including but not limited to the following areas:
- Indigenous health research and community-engaged approaches
- Artificial intelligence in Indigenous healthcare delivery using novel technologies
- Digital health innovations in clinical care and public health
- Remote and virtual care models
- Medical device evaluation and digital diagnostics
- Digital wound imaging and advanced imaging technologies
- Telerobotic and remote diagnostic technologies in maternal and prenatal care
- Lung health research through radon detection and digital analysis of respiratory health outcomes
- Use of novel eye-tracking technologies to aid in the diagnosis of ADHD in pediatric and adult populations
- Development of community-driven frameworks to extend and strengthen healthcare delivery
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong background in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
- Proficiency in data collection as well as data analysis using software (quantitative and qualitative)
- Demonstrated ability to conduct literature reviews, including systematic and scoping literature reviews
- Excellent academic writing skills, including manuscripts and reports
- Experience with ethics applications (REB submissions)
- Basic experience supporting grant writing
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently with supervisory guidance
Compensation
- Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s level of experience, qualifications, and degree combination.
Work Arrangement
- In-person only.
- Remote hours may be approved based on the supervisor’s discretion.
